PLEASE REMEMBER THAT A PERSON IS DOING PATROL SERVICES AT HIS/HER OWN RISK!
Our patrols are carried out by volunteering members of the community. The patrols are carried out in a community member's own vehicle with at least one additional community member in the vehicle. A patrol vehicle should ideally be equipped with a removable green strobe light, a removable identification sign on the side of the vehicle, a two-way radio, and a spot light. Community members can either purchase this equipment themselves, or can collect a set of commonly-owned equipment at a centralized location. The commonly-owned equipment must be returned to the centralized location for use by other patrol vehicles after a patrol session. We would like to thank our current team of willing patrollers. The patrol schedule currently works on a three-week cycle. A person will thus only patrol once or twice in a month for a 2-hour session.
A group of members have been compiling the guide for vehicle patrollers publised on the Silverton CPA website to assist patrollers with their duties. We hope the content and format will be found useful, but realise that there may be ommissions or that improvements may be desirable. We would thus be grateful if any member would send us comments or suggestions for improvement. These could be posted on the site or you could email patrols@silvertoncpa.co.za.
The Guide for Vehicle Patrollers is meant as a reference guide and reminder for experienced patrollers. It is also an introduction to vehicle patrolling for new patrollers. We plan to use the document as a basis for training workshops to be offered periodically.
'n Groep lede het die gids vir voertuigpatroleerders saamgestel wat nou op die Silvertonse Gemeenskapspatrollievereniging se webwerf gepubliseer is. Die gids beoog om voertuigpatroleerders behulpsaam te wees in die uitvoering van hulle pligte. Ons vertrou dat die inhoud en formaat van die gids bruikbaar sal wees, maar besef dat daar weglatings en nodige verbeterings mag wees. Ons sal dus die bydrae van enige lid verwelkom om die gids te verbeter. Jy kan jou bydrae maak op die webwerf of kan dit per epos stuur aan patrols@silvertoncpa.co.za.
Die Gids vir Voertuyigpatroleerders word bedoel as 'n verwysingsdokument vir ervare patroleerders. Dit is ook 'n inleiding tot voertuigpatrolering vir die nuwe patroleerders. Ons beplan om die dokument te gebruik as basis vir opleidingswerksessies wat van tyd tot tyd aangebied gaan word.
